Our goal is to cover our expenses to date with commission/advertising sales.
This is almost half what DaveyBoy has put into The HIV/AIDS Network (see expenses at
bottom) using his disability check as main/only funds. Some equipment was earned doing
computer upgrades and some old software was picked up this way. Thankfully DaveyBoy is a
experienced programmer as he has saved over $250,000 in programming costs! He has hand
programmed over 6,000 hours of line after line of code (to hire a ASP programmer is
$50+/hour, so 6,000X$50=$300,000), plus he monitors/admins the web and chat servers (which
he runs from his home) to save money as it would be expensive to host over 10,000 files on
ASP enabled Win2000 web hosting (would need 28 ASP accounts, so 28X$29.99=$839/month just
for hosting, never mind domain names). "It is amazing that Daveyboy has
created such a huge network that would have cost a charity/corporation hundreds of
thousands of dollars with only a $5,000 budget. He proves time (3 years of work) is worth
money. Hiv/AIDS Network's members say Daveyboy has the best services around".

We recently set up a online shopping store/mall (January
2003) with custom image products, a supplier supplies us the blanks, we add some logos and
AIDS related images, they sell it for us, we get a small commission.
Here's our earnings (we will get paid after $20 of commission is
earned):
- 1 Poz Hand Bag @ $14.99 = $14.99 ($2.00 commission)
- 1 POZ Panties - Size: Large @ $8.99 = $8.99 ($1.00 commission)
- 1 Poz Mousepad @ $12.99 = $12.99 ($2.00 commission)
- 1 Classic Thong - Size: Large @ $9.99 = $9.99 ($2.00 commission)

We do not have any paying advertising
clients as of yet. 95% of the banners you see in our banner rotator are banners to my own
sites, pin pointing important messages or areas of the HIV/AIDS Network. Advertising would
be very benifiacial as we have over 10,000 pages online relating to HIV/AIDS/Health!

- $1.80 has been earned from Amazon.com,
but I do not get paid until I make at least $20.00
- I was an affiliate of cj.com, but mysteriously my earnings disappeared as businesses
under cj.com unregistered.

We cannot recieve funding or grants as we are not an organization. I have not been able
to come up with the lawyer costs and application costs of applying for an
Incorporation/Charity

We currently (as of January, 2003) do not have any major or minor sponsors. A real shame as we have over 10,000 pages to
place top major sponsor's logo on.

- Software (operating system and chat software) gift from DiTech Telecom Inc. (1999)
- Cash gift from Zetta (HIV+ member) to help me get commercial internet accounts (covered
setup/installation fees and 3 months of servce for 2 high speed dedicated internet
accounts, one for the web server and other for the chat server or to be used as backup).
This gift was used up totally for 3 months of internet access and installtion charges.
This gift saved our network as we had been terminated by most high speed residential
services due to high traffic of our web pages, now we have moved to the commercial lines
(which seem to be much more reliable). Also this gift had enough money left over to pay
for the business name HIV/AIDS Network No profit was made from this, all went back into
the web sites immediately to keep it running, basically an emergency fund.
- Small gift (anonymous) to help pay internet costs for one month (paid about %75 of the
monthly fee), all this money went towards internet bill and was muchly needed near
Christmas time (2002). No profit was made from this, all went back into the web sites
immediately to keep it running, basically an emergency fund which was needed immediately.

So far we have not profited :( but sales of some POZ Products occured recently to pick
up our spirits! 2 regular chat room members have also helped when I was in a jam.

- $120/month internet costs so we can run our own private/secure/monitored chat and web
servers, this expense has only been this high since the last few months of 2003 (although
much cheaper than colocating or getting web hosting for 30+ web sites). I can not simply
use regular residential accounts as they get terminated, I get too much traffic, over one
million people a year check out my HIV/AIDS web sites (cost = 3mnths gift + 3mnthsX$120
recent + 36X$40 prev yrs = $1,800.00 total over 3 years)
- $30/mnth phone line for one year ($30X12mnths=$360.00)
- $3,000.00 in computer parts, accessories, software and upgrades over
the last few years (even if I did not host the pages, I would have needed this for
creating and monitoring hosted web sites)
- Space needed for computers/servers is an extra room I have had to rent for the last
couple years (extra $50/month X 24 months = $1,200.00)
- Domain names ($20/domain X 12 months)
- Hydro (electrical bill). 2 extra computers running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Equivalent to a 1000 watt heater running constantly! I guess about $50-75/month for the
last 3 years (about $1,500 for the last 4 years)
- TOTAL = $7,860 (about 25%
disability/welfare income over last 4 years)

- Cash wise, you can see above (in expenses area) that DaveyBoy has pretty much put $7,860 of his
own money into The HIV/AIDS Network to date in order to get sites up and running.
- DaveyBoy invested over 6,000 hours of programming (Flash
games/animations, web programs for HIV+, support communities, posters, banner campaigns,
logos, image editing, graphic design, web design, prevention scriptwritting, etc). If
we were to have hired programmers for such tasks, it would cost $40-100/hour, so basically
DaveyBoy invested $50(aprox) multiplied by 6,000 hours which equals about $300,000+. DaveyBoy invested this time into The HIV/AIDS
Network.
- DaveyBoy invested over 4,000 hours of network
administrating/monitoring our chats (and server), our web sites (and web server), reading
or answering over 500 emails a day, etc. If we were to have hired employees for such
tasks, it would cost $15-50/hour, so basically DaveyBoy invested $25(aprox) multiplied by
5,000 hours which equals about $125,000+. DaveyBoy
invested this time into The HIV/AIDS Network.
- Almost 4 years, 11,000+ hours, or 182 weeks of work invested by DaveyBoy! About 6-10
hours a day, 7days a week!
